Handfasting Rope

Handfasting Rope
Deposit payment only.
£350 in total.
Lovingly made from a variety of wild foraged plant fibres that could include dandelions, nettles, brambles, willowherb, wild rose, rush, ribwort plantain, bindweed, daffodils, cattails, and yellowflag iris.
I will provide you with a finished rope that’s been dried and oiled. It is flexible enough to tie the knot and can be displayed or locked away as a reminder of your special day.
A powerful tactile manifestation of a bond would suit any commitment ceremony, in addition to or instead of exchanging rings.
Handfasting is an ancient Celtic/Pagan ritual symbolising the sacred union of two interwoven lives.
The ritual involves the very literal act of ‘tying the knot’ . This is where the metaphorical expression we all know and use for people getting married originates from.
Carefully selected locally foraged plants create a beautifully woven rope in which a celebrant will tie an ‘infinity loop’ around the betrothed hands, wrists, or arms.
The rope should be kept away from the elements, as it is fully biodegradable.
Please email me at hanna@walkinglantern.com after you have paid your deposit to discuss your specific requirements and the date you wish to receive this order by. This ensures your commission is added to my calendar. I require the date of your ceremony, and any specific wild plants you wish the handfasting rope to be made from.
